Very peaceful, in that it is just on the outskirts of the town of Bled, which is overrun by tourists for the most part.
Just a minor thing, and it has to do with the location. Depending on the time of day, it may be necessary to get back into town to get to a restaurant, which means having to take the car. Parking in Bled is a challenge to say the least. Can't have it both ways. If we had the means at our disposal, taking along a pair of bikes would have been the absolute best answer to that problem. For most people though, walking into Bled would probably be doable, just a little too far for my wife and I.
We have stayed in over 70 paradors in Spain and they know how to run historic places. By contrast we felt that the staff thought that we should be grateful just to be there. One of the mattresses in our twin bed was adjustable hard/soft and failed and we were told that it couldn't be replaced until the next morning when we were about to check out. The food was very pretty but not Slovenian - you didn't know if you were in Paris, New York or London.
Genius loci of the place. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Excelent food and service in the restaurant. Large rooms.
We missed air-conditioning in one of our two rooms. The bath in the same room was pretty raffish.
Good location on lake. Quiet position away from traffic. Good size rooms and good facilities. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Restaurant prices for dinner and wines too high. Very few people in restaurant.
The historic background of the house, given it was one of Tito's summer residences. Vila Bled was luxurious yet comfortable. The views were breathtaking. The service was excellent. We were able to upgrade to a lake view room.
Nice atmosphere , nice position
lack of air conditioning , poor ventilation in the bathrrom
We were married at the Vila Bled 10 years ago and it has a special place in our hearts. Always wonderful to return. We do so every year.
Historical property. Found everyone very nice. Large rooms. Quiet. Breakfasts were ok. Did not eat dinner at the hotel.
Away from the town about a mile. Can be walked easily. We arrived and took a taxi which was expensive for only a 1.6 mile ride. No air conditioning as it is a historical building.
Excellent facilities, welcoming and helpful staff, rooms good, grounds large and well maintained, ideal for relaxation.
Beautiful views from balcony. High standards of service. Excellent food. Comfortable spacious rooms. Availability of rowing boats and bikes.
Couldn't have dinner at hotel on first night because of a formal dinner being held - however this gave us the opportunity to try a different restaurant.
Historic, quiet, nature, vew on the lake, buffet-breakfast
very cold athmosphere
Very friendy and helpful staff, excellent cuisine, great location, spacious with the atmosphere of the 1990-ies.
lacking flexibility in the restaurant; no dinner service without reservation (even if tables are free). The hotel needs an overhaul
A unique experience in President Tito's summer palace with a number of reminders of that era still in place. Beautiful views over lake and surroundings of the hotel which was in its own extensive grounds. The dinner was superb, if rather expensive. The rooms (junior suite) were large and comfortable, if a little stark and almost soviet in style. I would recommend the hotel provided that people are prepared for the price and insist on a room away from the kitchen area.
We were allocated a suite with a "park view" at some considerable cost, over and above the rack rate. The room was at the back of the hotel with minimal view of anything and over the kitchen which meant we were woken up at 6.00 am on two mornings with doors banging and bins being emptied or moved (not good for a chilling out holiday!) We raised this with reception staff who efectively shrugged their shoulders. But when I raised it on checking out, there was an apology and 40 Euros a night were taken off the bill. The hotel staff were not particularly welcoming or helpful and we had the impression we were there for the benefit of the staff rather than vice versa - they were more concerned with catering for functions and conferences than private guests. The hotel is beatifully located from a views perspective but a good mile's walk from the town and other restaurants - a key consideration given the cost of eating there and the fat that there was no cafe or opportunity to buy snacks etc.
Histrical environment and beautiful nature.
First, they allowed pets. The grounds were pretty and right next to the lake. It was convenient to get to the city and surrounding area. The restaurant was very good. The front desk was very helpful.
I thought it was a little pricey, but ok. I think the biggest inconvenience is their idea of a double bed being two single beds pushed together.
